O
God, Our Help
In
Ages Past...
The Church of the Nazarene in Midland had its
beginning in the home of Sol Gowing February 28, 1916. Rev. A.H.
Levely was elected as the first pastor. Soon after, the
congregation secured its first property, the Township Hall, on
2nd Street, as their first church home. As the congregation
expanded, a need arose for a more adequate facility. The second
building was constructed on the corner of State and Buttles.
Between 1937-1942 an annex was added to the building to
accommodate 100 people. God continued to bless His church! |

Construction began on the third building in
1948, located at 2714 S. Jefferson. The church continued to grow
through the 50s and early 60s, and the decision was made to
construct the current facility at 5700 Jefferson Ave. The name
was changed from midland First Church of the Nazarene to
Community Church of the Nazarene. Construction began in June,
1969 and the first service was held November 29, 1970
Evidence of God's grace has been with us from
the very early days of the church, and we look forward to His
plans for us in the future!

Hope for
